We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Maha Restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience! From start to finish, the service, food, and drinks were all excellent. We enjoyed the cocktails, which were crafted perfectly, and opted for their Soufra menu. Every dish was a delight: the whipped hummus with heirloom tomatoes and roasted capsicums was incredible, the Lebanese garlic dumplings with smoky eggplant, pine nuts, and red pepper were amazing, and the rice was so flavourful. My husband especially loved the roasted lamb shoulder. Everything was perfect, and we can’t wait to dine here again soon! Highly recommended.
Visited Maha for my fiancée's belated birthday celebration, having booked the $190 Signature Experience three days in advance and noting it was a birthday celebration on the reservation form. Unfortunately, the restaurant seemed unaware of either detail when we arrived. There was no acknowledgment of the occasion at any point during the night, which was disappointing given other restaurants we've been to make an effort here. Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. The wagyu shawarma bite and the "Ali Nazik" charred Kagoshima wagyu were phenomenal, and the cod and potato kibbeh and "Jawaneh" chicken wings were also excellent. For mains, the cumin and honey dry-aged duck was beautifully cooked and full of flavour, but the 12-hour roasted lamb shoulder, despite being very tender, fell flat and didn't live up to the hype. Desserts were pleasant, and the pomegranate sour cocktail was a highlight. Service was friendly but pacing was inconsistent. The first courses came out quickly, then things slowed considerably. We also noticed a table seated well after us, ordering the same menu, being served ahead of us, which didn't leave a great impression. Some genuinely excellent dishes, but the overall experience didn't match the price point or the occasion we'd flagged in advance.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Maha, and it was truly one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in Melbourne. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful atmosphere, elegant interior design, and the attention to detail throughout the venue. The restaurant feels sophisticated and welcoming at the same time, making it perfect for a special occasion or a great night out. The food was exceptional from start to finish. The appetizers were absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and packed with flavour. Every dish felt thoughtfully created, with a perfect balance of ingredients and textures. The presentation alone was impressive, but the taste exceeded expectations. We chose one of the set menus, and I was pleasantly surprised by how generous it was. Unlike some fine dining restaurants where you leave feeling hungry despite spending a significant amount, the set menu at Maha was very satisfying and offered a great amount of food. Each course was well-portioned, and by the end of the meal, we felt completely satisfied without feeling overwhelmed. The main courses were equally outstanding. The flavours were rich, authentic, and perfectly executed. You could really appreciate the quality of the ingredients and the creativity behind each dish. The service was another highlight of the evening. The staff were friendly, professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They made us feel comfortable throughout the entire experience and provided excellent service without being intrusive. Overall, Maha delivers everything you would hope for in a fine dining experience: incredible food, beautiful presentation, a stunning atmosphere, generous set-menu portions, and exceptional service. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special dining experience in Melbourne, and I will definitely be returning.
The flat bread dip with hummus was the best I’ve had in a Mediterranean restaurant. It was served warm and the hummus was creamy and silky. We went with a vegan menu as one of my colleagues was and we wanted to share. The roasted carrot with mash was another favourite. Will definitely be back with my carnivore friends the next time. The restaurant doesn’t have the best acoustics makes having conversations a little hard.
Absolutely exceptional in all ways. The food was next level, the service was professional but also warm and friendly and down to earth. The atmosphere was electric and authentic. We could have been in the middle east. The sommelier (I think named Tim) was so knowledgeable and friendly. He was the icing on top of a perfect cake. Well done Maha team!
